It changed from being restricted to only domestic duties to reaching leadership positions in numerous professional fields, and among them is the health sector. Now, female medical graduates are outnumbering their male colleagues, and not just that, they are also competing with them for leadership positions as well in health-care institutions.

Dr. Nadine Hachach-Haram
Dr. Hachach is a Lebanese surgeon, lecturer, and clinical entrepreneur. She’s the co-founder of “Proximie” which changed the future of surgery. Proxima has revolutionized the education of healthcare and has increased the platforms that allow doctors to virtually transport themselves into any operating room in any country in the world.
Thanks to Nadine and her desire to create a better reality and make a difference in the world, Proxima was created, an innovation that allowed her to receive the British Empire Medal back in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
H.E Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari
Her Excellency Dr. Al Kuwari works as the Managing Director of Hamad Medical Corporation which is considered to be the main national provider of hospital care. She was also appointed as Qatar’s Minister of Public Health back in 2016, overseeing the quality as well as the effectiveness of the services that are delivered by public and private health service providers, as well as the preparation and constant development of Qatar’s National Health and Public Health Strategies, and most importantly, monitoring their progress.
Dr. Samia Al Amoudi
Dr. Al Amoudi is one of the many courageous Saudi women who are truly inspiring. She’s an obstetrician, gynecologist and assistant professor at King Abdulaziz University, and was the only Saudi woman to receive a prize, along with eight women from other countries, described as being the most courageous women in the world.
Her story began when she actually diagnosed herself with breast cancer. The disease massively affected her life as a person, a woman, a mother, and as a working woman. It made her deal with her patients differently and allowed her to understand their suffering and agony on a personal level.
H.E Dr. Maryam Matar
Dr. Matar is a strong advocate of empowering women in the healthcare community. She has a rich background in sustainable development, strategic planning, and leadership, public policy, and advocacy. She is the first woman to be appointed as Director-General of the Community Development Authority.
Her devotion and commitment to women in leadership have led her to become a world-acclaimed speaker and an influential figure who constantly supports the cause of female empowerment.
Hayat Sindi
She managed to set herself up at the forefront of biotechnology until she became a champion in the field of science and technology in the Middle East.
Back in 1995, Dr. Sindi went to King’s College London to earn a degree in pharmacology with honors. Five years later she became the first woman from the Gulf to obtain a Ph.D. In biotechnology from Cambridge. Driven by her desire in social impact, she co-founded a non-profit organization with her team at Harvard called “Diagnostics For All”, devoted to creating innovative, low cost, diagnostic devices for people who live in countries with poverty.
